The screening will be followed by a Q&A with author and Hitchcock expert, Dr. Rick Worland, in conversation with DIFF Artistic Director James Faust.

PSYCHO is a 1960 American horror film produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It has become one of the most recognizable films in cinema history, and is arguably Hitchcock’s best known film. It has been considered to be one of the earliest examples of the slasher film genre.

GUEST BIO
Dr. Rick Worland received his M.A. and Ph.D. in motion picture/television critical studies from UCLA. His teaching has included courses on film history, documentary and silent cinema, as well as popular genres including Westerns, horror/science fiction, film noir, European cinema and the films of Alfred Hitchcock. His research has focused primarily on popular film and television in the Cold War period. Worland has published in various academic journals including Cinema Journal, Journal of Film & Video, Journal of Popular Film & Television and Film and History. His first book, The Horror Film: An Introduction, appeared in 2007 from Blackwell Publishing. His recent book, Searching for New Frontiers: Hollywood Films in the 1960s, was published by Wiley Blackwell in 2018. He was the 1997-98 Algur H. Meadows Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Meadows School of the Arts.

DIFF INSIDE FILM is a free educational talk series featuring film screenings followed by conversations with directors, producers, screenwriters, actors, and other film industry professionals.
The DIFF INSIDE FILM program is designed to give film students first-hand, face-to-face access to film industry insiders to guide their path toward career success in film-related professions. It is also open to people working in the local film industry and to film aficionados in the North Texas community. The series features guest speakers and panelists with international, national, regional, and local filmmaking backgrounds and experiences.
Screenings and Q&As are curated and moderated by DIFF Artistic Director James Faust, who has provided programming leadership to DIFF and to the Dallas International Film Festival since its inception.
